Donald Eugene Dale, age 79, of Richmond, passed away Friday, June 1, 2012.
Born July 7, 1932, in Richmond, to Thomas and Daisy Mae Heater Dale, he lived most of his life in Richmond. Don was a graduate of Centerville High School and a U.S. Navy veteran. He retired from ALCOA as an electrician after working there for over 20 years. Don also worked for IBM as a field manager and he was an electrician on the side. He enjoyed woodworking and loved to make furniture for his family. Don restored cars, and in recent years a Model A. He enjoyed building model airplanes and ships and loved to travel.
Survivors include his three daughters, Rebecca A. (Daniel) McKee of Richmond, Elizabeth A. (Ed) Rivera of Columbus, and Amy L. (John) Dale-Crull of Richmond; 14 grandchildren, Misty (Chris Nicholson) McKee of Indianapolis, Patrick McKee of Centerville, Matthew Dale, Chelsea Dale and Jonathan Crull, all of Ohio, Taylor Morrison, Allison Crull, and Samuel Crull, all of Richmond, and Logan, Alexander, Spencer, Gabriel, Marissa, and Madison Rivera, all of Columbus; three great-grandchildren, Lexi, Jordanne, and Lucas; a sister, Betty Rheuble of Centerville; and special “Mom” figure, Irene Routson.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 59 years, Ruth A. Plankenhorn Dale, who died December 5, 2011; son, Donald K. Dale; parents; brother, William Dale; sister, Edith Hylton; and special “Dad” figure, Charlie Routson.
Visitation for Donald Eugene Dale will be from noon to 2 p.m. Wednesday, June 6, 2012, at Doan & Mills Funeral Home, 790 National Road West, Richmond. Funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home with Pastor Fuzzy Lake officiating. Burial will be in Earlham Cemetery with military honors provided by the Wayne County Honor Guard.
