Fredrick E. Campbell, 78, Westport, passed away at 11:45 a.m. on Sunday, June 3, 2012, at Hospice of South Central Indiana Inpatient Facility in Columbus.

Mr. Campbell as born on October 29, 1933, in Greensburg, the son of Forrest and Artunis (Giddings) Campbell, was raised in Forrest Hill and had been a Michigan resident for 40 years, moving to Sardinia in 1996. He attended school in Burney.

He retired from General Motors in 1991 after 26 years of service, was a member of the Lions Club in Michigan for 10 years and North Vernon Lions Club for two years and enjoyed building crafts, hunting and fishing.

He married Frances H. Smith in Morrice, Michigan, on November 26, 1994, and she survives, along with his children, Melvin (Gerlinde) Campbell of Westport, Diana Gee of St. Johns, Michigan, Fred Campbell II of Westport, Paul (Jackie) Campbell of Greensburg, Lisa (Brad) Stinson of Ovid, Michigan, Cindy Sheldon of Seymour, Roylene Blackman of Burton, Michigan, Jeff (Patty) Roebuck of West Palm Beach, Florida, Edith Hemenway of Durand, Michigan, Shawn (Kevin) Woodgate of Byron, Michigan, John Hemenway of North Vernon, and Charity Hemenway of Dayton Beach, Florida; his sisters, Clara (Bob) Smith of Holton and Thelma Meece of Greensburg; his brother, Norman (Doris) Campbell of Westport; 35 grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wives, Katherine (Whittaker) Campbell, Marie (Scheffler) Campbell and Lois (Spencer) Baley Campbell; a sister, Lillie Gibson; and a brother, Clifford Campbell.

The funeral service will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, June 7, 2012, at Bass & Gasper Funeral Home in Westport with the Rev. Tom Rust officiating. Burial will follow at Westport Cemetery. Friends and family may call on Wednesday, June 6, 2012, from 4:00 until 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made through the Bass & Gasper Funeral Home to the Lions Club.
