Phyllis Moore Ryan, 65, of Wilmington, NC, died Wednesday, May 23, 2012, at Clare Bridge of Wilmington.
Phyllis was born on December 7, 1946, in Montclair, NJ, to the late Walter Madison Moore and Frances Ray Moore.
She is survived by her loving husband of 44 years, Michael F. Ryan; her children, Timothy Ryan of Austin TX, and daughter Christine Farrell (Barry) of Wilmington, NC; grandchildren, Ellie Farrell and Noah Farrell, both of Wilmington, NC; and a sister, Linda Leathers (John) of Brewster, MA.
Phyllis graduated from Muskingum College in New Concord, Ohio, and taught high school English at Mascoma Valley High School (NH) and Brown County High School (IN).
She was a member of PEO Sisterhood, Columbus Service League, League of Women Voters, Whip-poor-will Garden Club, Indianapolis Symphony Women’s Committee and Sycamore Land Trust.
Phyllis enjoyed traveling throughout the world with her husband, golfing, reading, needlepoint and, most of all, caring for her grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, June 9, 2012, at St. Andrew’s On-the-Sound Episcopal Church with The Rev. Richard G. Elliott officiating.
