Michael Wayne Smith, 68, of Columbus, died Sunday, June 3, 2012, at Bradenton, Fla.
Mr. Smith was a former employee of Thomas & Smith Mechanical Contractors and retired from LED, both in Columbus. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy and a member of Edinburgh American Legion Post No. 233, SAL & Legion Riders in Oneco, Fla., Plumbers & Pipe Fitters Union, H.O.G. in Bloomington and the D.A.V., Eagles and Moose lodges in Bradenton.
He enjoyed spending time with family and friends, riding his Harley and participating in rides for charity work for the American Legion. He also enjoyed fishing and boating.
Funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Monday at Eskew-Eaton Funeral Home in Edinburgh. Calling will be from 2 to 6 p.m. Sunday. Burial will be at Rest Haven Cemetery in Edinburgh.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association.
Born in Columbus Dec. 21, 1943, Mr. Smith was the son of Raymond W. Smith and Elizabeth Morris Smith Ault.
He is survived by daughters, Shelly Baxter of Edinburgh and Donata (Jim) Shockley of Scipio; a son, Tony (Tana) Brothenbuehler of Lena, Ill.; sisters, Joyce Ann Walker of Franklin, Cindy Jo Smith of Edinburgh and Debra (Daniel) Burton of Nineveh; eight grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
