Reta May Smedley-Biddinger, 81, of North Vernon, passed away at 9:10 p.m. June 9, 2012, at her home.
Mrs. Smedley-Biddinger was born Jan. 19, 1931, in Jennings County, the daughter of Lester Speer and Lillian Taylor Speer. She married Keith Biddinger on Oct. 10, 1997, at the Church of Christ in North Vernon. He survives.
Reta is a 1949 graduate of North Vernon High School. She enjoyed yard sales, antiques and spending time with her family. She was a member of North Vernon Church of Christ.
Mrs. Smedley-Biddinger is survived by her husband; two daughters, Darlene (Thomas) Horton and Marcia (Gary) Green, both of North Vernon; two step-daughters, Deniece Childers and Vicki (Timothy) Horn, both of Columbus; two sisters, Carole Jackson and Donna (Melvin) Browning, both of North Vernon; six grandchildren, Brian (Tanya) Horton, Deann (Mike) Aubuchon and Mario Horton, all of North Vernon, Michael (Carrie) Horton of Commiskey, Alaina (Chris) Ristuccia of Indianapolis, and Jason (Karrie) Green of Seymour; three step-grandchildren and five step-great-grandchildren.
Reta married Ferrell Smedley, her first husband, on Oct. 31, 1955. He preceded her in death on Feb. 15, 1991; her parents; two brothers, Larry and Myron Speer; a son, Lester; and a daughter, Linda.
The Funeral for Mrs. Smedley–Biddinger will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Dove–Sharp & Rudicel Funeral Home and Cremation Services with Thomas Horton and Larry Chastain officiating. Visitation will be 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Wednesday. Burial will be at Vernon Cemetery.
