Allen Barr, 94, of Columbus, passed away Wednesday, June 13, 2012, at Kindred Care of Columbus.
Mr. Barr had worked at Farmers Co-op in Columbus and was a member of Burnsville Christian Church.
The funeral will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. Saturday at Norman Funeral Home at Hope with Rev. Dan Shaw officiating. Calling hours will be Saturday from 11:00 a.m. until service time. Burial will be at Garland Brook Cemetery.
Born in Bartholomew County on January 17, 1918, Mr. Barr was the son of Orvy and Nettie Kurts Barr. He married Melva Vanest on Aug. 15, 1937, and she survives.
Survivors also include a son-in-law, John Bayless of Glasgow, Ky.; a granddaughter, Heather (Garrett) Bowling of Newburgh; a grandson, John (Beth) Bayless of Oshkosh, WI; great-grandchildren, Morgan, Kathie, Nathan, Brooke and Matthew; and brothers, Kenneth Barr of Kansas City, Mo.,and Norman Barr of Columbus.
Mr. Barr was preceded in death by a daughter, Juanita Barr; brothers, Lester and Alvin Barr; and sisters, Ruth Skinner and Irene Schaub.
