Hubert Hayward Hogg, 90, of Columbus, passed away Sunday, July 1, 2012, at 9:55 p.m. at the Lutheran Community Home in Seymour.
Hubert was born in Letcher County, KY, July 6, 1921, the son of Blackburn and Nancy Ison Hogg.
He married Inez Brashears on April 22, 1942. She preceded him in death on April 1, 1990. He married Helena Gray Coons on March 19, 1993, and she survives.
Other survivors include his children, Renny Jean (Donald) Davis of Columbus, Richard (Jan) Hogg of McCormick, SC, Selena (Charles) Sawyer of Mooresville, NC, Michael (Marcia) Hogg of Brownstown and Danny (Debbie) Hogg of San Diego, CA, a stepson, Steven Coons of Columbus; 11 grandchildren; 3 stepgrandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; 8 stepgreat-grandchildren; and a brother, Wendell Hogg of Neon, KY.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Inez Hogg; and five brothers.
Hubert had been a resident of Bartholomew County since 1947. He retired from Vernco Corporation in 1986, was a longtime member of New Hope Christian Church, where he served as an elder for many years, and was part of the Columbus Masonic Lodge.
He will be remembered for his sense of humor, love for his Lord and his family.
A celebration of his life will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday at New Hope Christian Church with the Rev. John Sichting officiating. Family and friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Barkes, Weaver & Glick Funeral Home on Washington Street and from 9 a.m. to time of service Friday at the church.
Burial will be at Garland Brook Cemetery.
