Opal C. Whitaker, 84, of North Vernon, died at noon Thursday, July 12, 2012, at Jennings Healthcare Center in North Vernon.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at Sawyer-Pickett Funeral & Cremation Service in North Vernon, with the Rev. Al Davidson officiating. Visitation will be from 3 to 6 p.m. Sunday and from 10 a.m. until service time Monday. Burial will be at Dupont Cemetery.
Memorials may be made through the funeral home to First Baptist Church Building Fund in North Vernon or Jennings Health Care Center.
Mrs. Whitaker is survived by a son, Ed K. (Angie) Whitaker of North Vernon; a sister, Ann Stephens of Cumberland, Ky.; and two grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Ira Whitaker.
