David Keith Forney, 78, of North Hughes Street, died Tuesday, July 17 2012, at his home.
David was the best backhoe operator in the county. He worked for Raft to Rafters and dug over 800 swimming pools.
He was a lifetime member of the F.O.P. and was a charitable person who always donated to various organizations.
Funeral services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Saturday at Jewell-Rittman Family Funeral Home with Chad Ranson officiating. Calling will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday and one hour prior to the service on Saturday. Burial will be at Garland Brook Cemetery.

Born in Marion County, Ind., March 11, 1934, David was the son of Rupert Ormsby Forney and Lula P. Lawhorn Forney. He married Darlene Joyce Carter May 28, 1954. She preceded him in death Feb. 9, 2007.
Survivors include sons, David Lee (Heidi) Forney of Hartsville, IN, Dennis Keith (Melinda) Forney of Elizabethtown, IN, and Phillip Jason (Sarah)Forney of Columbus, IN; a daughter, Lisa Kay (Kent) Neeb of Shelbyville, IN; 12 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Mary Slevin of Franklin, IN.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; a brother, George Forney; and sisters, Sonia Novak and Helen Forney.
