Daniel I. “Dan” Retz, 70, of Rocky Ford Road, died at 2:00 a.m. Tuesday, July 24, 2012, at Columbus Regional Hospital.
Mr. Retz was born in Indianapolis, IN, on February 2, 1942, the son of Ira and Naomi Monroe Retz. He married Sandy K. Coleman in Miami County, IN, on December 6, 1961, and she survives.
A retired machinist, Mr. Retz had worked at Columbus Precision and Ventra, both in Columbus, IN, and at RCO Reed in Franklin, IN. He was a racing enthusiast and enjoyed NASCAR. He loved his family and his grandchildren were very special to him.
The funeral service celebrating the life of Mr. Retz will be conducted at 10:00 a.m. Friday, July 27, 2012, at Myers-Reed Chapel on 25th Street,. with Rev. Robert Langdon officiating.
Calling hours will be from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Thursday and from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the service at 10:00 a.m. on Friday.
Burial will be at Garland Brook Cemetery.

Along with his wife of fifty years, Mr. Retz is survived by a son, Alan D. (Missy) Retz of Columbus, IN.; a sister, Dixie (Bob) Long of Greentown, IN.; a brother, John (Janice) Retz of Windfall, IN.; seven grandchildren, April and Lily Retz and Katie and Tommi Stowers, all of Columbus, IN, and Logan, Garrett and Grace Retz, all of Greenwood, IN; and a great-granddaughter, Braelynn Browning of Columbus, IN.
Along with his parents, Mr. Retz was preceded in death by his son, Terry Daniel Retz, on June 17, 1995.
