John M. Mace, 78, of Columbus, died Tuesday, July 24, 2012, at 3:25 a.m. at Willow Crossing Health & Rehabilitation Center.
John was a retired farmer, farming in the Columbus area for 50 years, and was a U.S. Air Force veteran.
The funeral will be conducted at 10 a.m. Friday at Barkes, Weaver & Glick Funeral Home on Washington Street with Dennis W. Aud officiating.
Family and friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday and from 9 a.m. to time of service Friday.
Burial will be at Garland Brook Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of South Central Indiana or the donor's choice of charities.

Born in Columbus May 15, 1934, Mr. Mace was the son of James Henry and Ida Catherine Whitehead Mace. He married Janet C. Walker on March 26, 1955.
Survivors include his wife, Janet C. Mace; children, Denise (Scott) Brown, Kathy (Tim) Davidson and Dan (Loveta) Mace, all of Columbus; a sister, Martha Kinsey of Columbus; grandchildren, Megan (Scott) Moore of Greensburg, Kelly West of Bloomington, Logan Brown of Columbus, Sara (Abdulla) Zokari of Japan, Thomas Davidson of Columbus, Seth Sanders of Bloomington, Chelsea Sanders of Chicago, Mallory Mace of Valparaiso and Mackenzie Mace of Columbus; and great-grandchildren, Avery and Eli John Moore.
He was preceded in death by his parents. After his parents passed, he made his home with Louis and Hilda Voelz, who preceded him in death. Also preceding him in death are brothers, Harold, Bill, Kenney, Bob and Thomas Mace; and sisters, Hannah Mace, Thelma Stone, Melba Bonnsett and Catherine Mace.
