Indiana Republicans look outside Indianapolis, consider Fort Wayne for 2014 convention

INDIANAPOLIS — Indiana's Republican Party leaders are considering taking their 2014 convention to Fort Wayne.

The Fort Wayne Journal-Gazette reports (http://bit.ly/14wyfOy ) the party will change a rule which has kept the biennial convention in Indianapolis.

Party spokesman Pete Seat said the party is looking at Fort Wayne for now, but will consider bids from other parts of the state.

Seat says Fort Wayne Republicans approached the state party about moving the convention after Democrats held their 2012 convention in the state's second largest city.

At next year's convention, the Republicans will formally sign off on their picks for 2014 statewide candidates.
