More than 8,000 people registered to vote in Nevada from Oct. 1 through Oct. 14


CARSON CITY, Nevada — More than 8,000 people registered to vote in Nevada this month before an Oct. 14 deadline to participate in next month's general election.

Secretary of State Ross Miller says 2,466 voters registered as Democrats while 2,955 people registered as Republicans in the first two weeks of October.

The Nevada Appeal reports ( ) another 3,202 people registered as nonpartisan voters.

A total of 1.4 million voters are registered in Nevada.

About 41 percent of those are Democrats and 33 percent are Republicans. Another 7 percent are registered to third parties while 20 percent are nonpartisan voters.

Election day is Nov. 4.
