Hassan Martin scores 17 to lead 4 in double figures for Rhode Island in 80-60 win over Brown

KINGSTON, Rhode Island — Hassan Martin scored 17 points and grabbed seven rebounds to propel Rhode Island to an 80-60 win over Brown on Wednesday.

E.C. Matthews contributed 12 points, while Biggie Minnis and Jarelle Reischel added 10 apiece for Rhode Island (8-3), which shot 51 percent from the floor, including 6 of 13 from 3-point range. Minnis also had five assists.

The Rams never trailed in the game, taking a 46-28 advantage into the break and continued to pull away in the second half. Earl Watson's bucket with 9:42 to go in the first half gave Rhode Island a 27-16 lead and the margin never fell below double figures the rest of the way.

Brown (7-7) was led by Cedric Kuakumensah, who scored 21 points on 6-for-10 shooting and hit 7 of 7 from the free-throw line.

Rhode Island has shot 50 percent or better in six of its past 11 games.
