PHOENIX — A Phoenix man has been sentenced to 25 years to life in prison in the fatal shooting of the boyfriend of an exotic dancer.

Judge Sam Myers of Maricopa County Superior Court sentenced Marshon Garth on Friday.

A jury on Sept. 3 convicted Garth of 1st degree-murder and other charges stemming from the April 2013 killing of 23-year-old Michael Ray Gauer.

Police say Garth met an exotic dancer at a residence and that she agreed to perform a sex act in exchange for money.

Afterward, the two allegedly had an argument over payment and she called Gauer for help.

According to police, Garth shot at both victims, causing their vehicle to run up on the curb and hit a tree.

Garth also received a 15-year additional sentence for aggravated assault.
