CONWAY, South Carolina — A Conway man has been found guilty in the 2013 shooting death of a Coastal Carolina student.

Local media outlets report that 22-year-old Marquis McDonald was sentenced to 45 years in prison for murder in the death of 19-year-old Anthony Liddell Jr. of Bennettsville.

Liddell was a sophomore majoring in sports medicine when he was shot three times at a residential complex near the university in February of last year.

In court, McDonald denied his involvement. He also testified that he went with a cousin to buy marijuana from Liddell and that his cousin shot the teen.
