GAINESVILLE, Florida — Florida's consumer confidence is dipping slightly after reaching its highest point since the Great Recession

The monthly University of Florida survey released Tuesday shows consumer confidence was 82 in the month of October. That's on a scale of 2 to 150 benchmarked to 1966 at a value of 100.

This is a slight drop from September, when consumer confidence reached its highest point since April 2007.

Chris McCarty, director of the UF center that does the survey, said the slight decline is not significant and unlikely to be a trend.

But McCarty also warned that it was also unlikely consumer confidence would rise. He predicted that because of the close race for governor that a large number of Floridians will not be happy with the outcome.
