Virginia festival to showcase more than 100 films, including world premiere of 'Big Stone Gap'


CHARLOTTESVILLE, Virginia — More than 100 films will be showcased during the 2014 Virginia Film Festival in Charlottesville.

The lineup includes "Big Stone Gap," which is based on author Adriana Trigiani's series of books. The film was made on location in Big Stone Gap. Its world premiere will kick off the festival on Nov. 6.

The festival says Trigniani and "Big Stone Gap" cast members Patrick Wilson, Jenna Elfman and Jasmine Guy are scheduled to attend the world premiere.

There also will be a special screening of "Shaft" on Nov. 6. The screening will be followed by a discussion with the film's star, Richard Roundtree.

On Nov. 8, there will be day-long Family Day celebration that will include a 75th Anniversary screening of "The Wizard of Oz."
