SPRINGFIELD, Vermont — Police say a man wearing a fake black beard robbed a bank at a shopping plaza in Springfield, Vermont, and may have ended up being covered with reddish-pink dye after a dye pack in the money apparently exploded.

The Rutland Herald reports (http://bit.ly/1EnNSeK) the man threw a Shaw's shopping bag at a Citizens Bank teller on Tuesday afternoon. He said he was armed; no weapon was seen. No one was hurt.

Police said he fled over a nearby footbridge. A large splotch of pinkish-red dye was seen in the snow on the bridge, and the dye outlined an object that could have been a stack of bills. A red mist-like smoke was seen.

Police said the man was probably in his early 20s, was slender, and between 5-foot-4 and 5-foot-8.
