FRESNO, California — Prosecutors have charged a Central California man with four counts of vehicular manslaughter in connection with a head-on collision that killed four people, including a woman engaged to be married and her two young nephews.

The Fresno County District Attorney's Office announced the charges against 43-year-old Rien Ban, of Fresno, on Wednesday. Chief Deputy District Attorney Greg Anderson said Ban could face additional charges.

Authorities say Ban, who has three prior drunken driving convictions, was driving under the influence on Sunday when he crashed into a Kia near Mendota while trying to pass a slower vehicle.

Three people in the Kia, 25-year-old Belkys Rodriguez Quesada and her nephews, 7-year-old Danny Enriquez Rodriguez and 10-year-old Lisandro Enriquez Rodriguez, died.

A passenger in Ban's SUV, 37-year-old Sinoeun Uong, of Sacramento, also died.
