EAST ST. LOUIS, Illinois — A 71-year-old southwestern Illinois man has been ordered to spend a decade in federal prison for distributing child pornography online.
Charlie Jarrett of Wood River also was fined $17,500 when he was sentenced Wednesday in U.S. District Court in East St. Louis. He'll also have to pay $10,000 in restitution.
Jarrett pleaded guilty to one count each of distribution of child pornography and possession of child pornography.
Authorities say the FBI caught Jarrett distributing pornography using a peer-to-peer file sharing network, then searched his house and found more than 2,600 images and 60 videos containing child porn.
He admitted downloading the images for about eight years and sharing it with others.
