Murder suspect's wife found dead in southwest Mo. home after being charged with perjury


PURDY, Missouri — The wife of a southwest Missouri man charged in a double homicide has died after posting bond and leaving jail on a perjury charge.

KYTV reports ( ) a relative found 59-year-old Carolyn Campbell dead Thursday morning in her home in the Taney County town of Purdy. Police said there were no signs of trauma. An autopsy will determine the cause of death.

Campbell was charged Tuesday with lying to a grand jury investigating the April 2011 deaths of Rusty and Rebecca Porter. The couple were abducted from their Greene County home and later found dead in rural Taney County.

Campbell's husband, Robert Campbell, has pleaded not guilty in the killings. Three co-defendants have pleaded guilty or been convicted, and another is awaiting trial.

Rusty Porter was a nephew of the Campbells.
