Neb woman sentenced to 26 months in federal prison for failing to register as sex offender

OMAHA, Nebraska — A Hastings woman has been sentenced to more than two years in federal prison for failing to register as a sex offender.

U.S. Attorney Deb Gilg says 24-year-old Amber Modlin was sentenced this week to 26 months in prison. She'll be supervised for five years following her release.

Modlin was required to register as a sex offender due to her conviction in January 2008 of attempted rape and gross sexual imposition of a victim under 13. On Oct. 31, 2012, the Adams County Sheriff received information that Modlin was in Nebraska, and authorities determined Modlin had not registered her change of address with officials as required.
