ALBUQUERQUE, New Mexico — Albuquerque police are set to release details on the department's latest shooting involving officers.
Interim Police Chief Allen Banks is scheduled to hold a press conference Friday to discussing Sunday's shooting of 37-year-old Andy Jack Snider
Officials say Snider was shot and killed by police near the University of New Mexico. Authorities say Snider charged officers with a weapon in an alley after he fled from the scene of an alleged assault at a convenient store.
Police had not said what type of weapon — if any — had been recovered at the scene, and officials have not released the names of the officers involved in the shooting.
The shooting marked the eighth officer-involved shooting in 2013 and comes amid a U.S. Justice Department investigation.
