Brookhaven School District Superintendent Ben Cox announces resignation in June at meeting


BROOKHAVEN, Mississippi — The Brookhaven School District superintendent has given the board of trustees his notice of resignation.

The Daily Leader reports ( ) Ben Cox announced Tuesday during a meeting that his resignation is effective June 30. He did not give a specific reason.

Cox thanked the school board and praised the district's teachers, administrators and students.

Students and administrators made a presentation to the board, recognizing Cox's work since joining the district. Some of the projects he led included recognizing bus drivers during school bus safety month, making Thanksgiving placemats for nursing homes and serving as election greeters for those voting at the school.

Cox has been superintendent of the district since Jan. 2014. He previously worked at North Pike School District.
