Navy criminal investigators looking into reported assault of a female sailor aboard boat

NEWPORT NEWS, Virginia — The Navy's criminal investigative service is looking into a reported assault of a female sailor aboard the Gerald R. Ford aircraft carrier in Newport News.

Ship spokesman Lt. Cmdr. Sean Robertson told the Daily Press (http://bit.ly/1K3v3mY ) the incident occurred on the morning of May 3. Robertson says the sailor was uninjured, but didn't say if she had returned to work.

The ship is currently anchored at Newport News Shipbuilding, which employs 23,000 plus about 1,450 sailors working aboard the first-in-class carrier.
