SALEM, Oregon — An 18-year-old Keizer, Oregon, man has pleaded guilty in the fatal 2014 shooting of his mother and the wounding of his father.

The Marion County district attorney's office said Brett Pearson entered guilty pleas Thursday to one count of aggravated murder, one count of attempted murder and a conspiracy charge.

Sentencing is set Aug. 28.

A second young man charged in the case, Robert Miller II, is scheduled for trial in November.

The Statesman Journal says Pearson was arrested on March 5, 2014, less than an hour after officers found his mother, Michelle Pearson, dead of a gunshot wound and his father, Bill Pearson, wounded with multiple gunshot wounds. The elder Pearsons were found at their home.

Both Brett Pearson and Miller were 17 when the crimes occurred but they are being prosecuted as adults.

Keizer is five miles north of Salem in the Willamette Valley.
