ST. FRANCISVILLE, Louisiana — The West Feliciana Parish school district appears to be heading toward a break-even budget year.
Finance Director Helen "Ruthie" Davis told School Board members this past week that revenue was about $5,000 more than expenditures through March.
The Advocate reports (http://bit.ly/ZwD2mX ) the district's fiscal year ends June 30.
Davis says sales tax collections are up 2 percent, possibly because of refueling and maintenance expenses at the River Bend nuclear power plant.
Sales tax revenue from the Angola spring rodeo in April also should help the district make it through the year without deficit spending, she says.
