CRANSTON, Rhode Island — Two people have been brought to the hospital as a precaution after a natural gas leak caused a small explosion and fire at a metal refinery in Cranston.

Fire officials tell WPRI-TV (http://bit.ly/1ommaW7 ) that it happened around 6:30 a.m. Thursday at Gannon and Scott. The company was evacuated.

Cranston Fire Chief William McKenna says the sprinkler system mostly put out the fire.

The cause is still under investigation.
