MEMPHIS, Tennessee — Authorities in West Tennessee say a school bus driver and 10 children have been injured when the bus crashed with a truck and hit a tree.

The Tennessee Highway Patrol says the bus carrying 32 students crossed the center line of Highway 14 and struck a Freightliner truck Monday afternoon. The bus then left the roadway and hit a tree.

Shelby County Fire Department spokesman Brent Perkins says the bus driver is in serious condition. He says the driver, identified by the THP as 52-year-old Jacqueline McKinley, was the only one who was seriously hurt. The injured were taken to hospitals.

The driver of the truck, which was towing a loaded trailer, was injured but not transported to the hospital.

The crash led to the closure of Highway 14. Highway patrol troopers are investigating.
