FARGO, North Dakota — A North Dakota man has been sentenced to eight years in prison on an illegal weapons charge.

Darrell Boggs, of Fargo, pleaded guilty in November to possession of firearms and ammunition by a convicted felon. Two other charges were dropped in exchange for the plea.

Authorities say Boggs had previous felony convictions in California for assault with a deadly weapon, burglary and possession with intent to sell a controlled substance.

Boggs was arrested in August after authorities discovered him to be in possession of a shotgun and pistol.
