Man charged in Fayetteville party shooting that left 1 man dead, 2 injured


FAYETTEVILLE, North Carolina — Fayetteville police have made an arrest after an exchange of gunfire at a party last weekend left one man dead and two others injured.

Police tell local media outlets that 23-year-old Demario Eastmon of Fayetteville was charged Wednesday with first-degree murder in the shooting death of 25-year-old Leandre Laguerre.

Eastmon is also charged with assault with a deadly weapon for allegedly hitting another man on the head. He is in jail. It was not immediately known if he had an attorney.

The incident happened early Sunday when a fight started at a party at a Fayetteville home. Two men were taken to the hospital with injuries. One was admitted and the other treated and released.
