Man charged with murder in Meridian shooting death; another person charged as accessory


MERIDIAN, Mississippi — One person is charged with murder and another is charged with aiding in the shooting death of a Meridian man.

The Meridian Star reports ( ) that 20-year-old Jacoby Dixon is charged with murder and is being held without bond in the Lauderdale County Detention Facility.

Omeika Brown, also of Meridian, has been charged with being an accessory after the fact.

It was not immediately clear whether Dixon and Brown have attorneys.

Lauderdale County Coroner Clayton Cobler says 55-year-old Bobby Ray Armstrong was shot several times in the back and pronounced dead late Monday.

Meridian Police Detective Dareall Thompson says Armstrong, who was deaf and mute, was well known to people in the downtown area.
