LONG BEACH, California — The California Highway Patrol says two car-theft suspects were arrested after leading officers on a 40-minute pursuit across Los Angeles County at speeds up to 100 mph.

CHP Officer Richard McAllister says the chase began on Interstate 10 in Pomona late Sunday night.

Officers pursued the white 1990 Acura Integra on several freeways through downtown Los Angeles, into Carson, and south into Long Beach.

After the suspects exited Interstate 710, officers were able to use spike strips to flatten at least one tire of the Acura, which started emitting smoke.

The suspects were arrested after bailing out of the car.
