RIVERTON, Wyoming — A Riverton man was airlifted to a Casper hospital on Sunday after reportedly shooting himself in the leg with a shotgun in a hunting accident.
The Riverton Ranger (http://bit.ly/1bhrmDw) reports that the 21-year-old man was duck hunting along the Wind River east of Riverton on Sunday morning with his father when he lost his footing on an embankment.
Fremont County Undersheriff Ryan Lee says the hunter apparently dropped his 20-gauge shotgun, which discharged when the hunter fell. The shot struck the man's right femur and he landed partially in the river.
Lee says several details of the case remain unclear and the victim was unable to communicate with an investigating deputy because he was in shock. There was no information immediately available on the man's condition.
