LINCOLN, Nebraska — Gov. Dave Heineman has filled a judgeship vacancy in Omaha.
Heineman announced Wednesday that Derek Vaughn, of Omaha, will be a Douglas County Court judge. The 4th Judicial District consists of Omaha.
Vaughn has served as deputy county attorney for the Douglas County Attorney's Office since 1999. He also serves as adjunct instructor of criminal justice at the University of Nebraska-Omaha and Midland University.
The vacancy was due to the retirement of Judge Edna Atkins.
