New York Jets get down to 78 players by cutting 12, including 5 wide receivers

FLORHAM PARK, New Jersey — The New York Jets have released 12 players, including five wide receivers, reducing their roster to 78 a day after defeating the Giants 28-18.

The Jets must cut three more players by 4 p.m. Tuesday to get down to the mandatory 75-player limit. All teams must reduce their rosters to 53 players by Saturday.

Wide receivers , , , and were among the Jets' cuts Sunday. Posey was acquired from the Houston Texans during the draft.

Veteran cornerback and returner , signed Aug. 11, was also cut.

Also released were cornerbacks and ; offensive lineman ; center ; linebacker ; and tight end .
