Workforce West Virginia reports unemployment up slightly in the state last month


CHARLESTON, West Virginia — West Virginia's seasonally adjusted unemployment rate rose two-tenths of a percentage point to 7.2 percent in May.

WorkForce West Virginia says the number of unemployed state residents increased by 2,000 last month. Total unemployment is up by 3,200 over the year.

Nationally, the unemployment rate inched upward by one-tenth of a percentage point to 5.5 percent in May.
