ANDERSON, South Carolina — A 29-year-old Anderson County man has been sentenced to 40 years in prison for killing his wife.
Jonathan Roe admitted he shot 48-year-old Sonja Roe several times in their Iva home in January, then drove to Pennsylvania.
Investigators say Jonathan Roe then called the Lower Allen, Pennsylvania, police and confessed to the shooting. Anderson County deputies found his wife's body and he was arrested.
Roe pleaded guilty to murder Tuesday. He will have to serve his entire sentence.
Roe killed his wife shortly after being released from jail on other charges including assault and battery with intent to kill. Prosecutor Chrissy Adams says Roe is a violent man who needs to be behind bars.
