Fire destroys apartment building near downtown Thomasville; no residents reported injured


THOMASVILLE, North Carolina — Authorities say fire has destroyed an apartment building near downtown Thomasville.

Multiple media outlets report the fire was reported about 3:40 p.m. Wednesday.

One firefighter went to the hospital for treatment of heat exhaustion, but no injuries to residents were reported.

Fire officials say the entire building is a total loss. Officials are still trying to determine what caused the fire and where it started.

At least 60 firefighters helped battle the blaze.
