Dad accused of attacking wife with pepper spray in Longmont, kidnapping son strikes plea deal


BOULDER, Colorado — A man accused of attacking his estranged wife with pepper spray and a stun gun at her Longmont home, kidnapping their young son and fleeing the country has signed a plea deal with prosecutors that calls for 36 years in prison.

The Daily Camera reports ( ) 52-year-old Monty Turner agreed to plead guilty to second-degree kidnapping, felony menacing, using a stun gun and violation of custody. He is scheduled to be sentenced Nov. 21.

Investigators say Turner attacked his wife May 25, 2013, and fled to Canada with their 3-year-old son. The father and son were found the following day at a motor lodge in Manitoba, Canada.

Turner's father, Ronald Turner, was sentenced in June to 27 years in prison for helping with the kidnapping.
