Man arrested after allegedly waging drunken attack with machete; victim will recover


LOS ANGELES — A Los Angeles man has been arrested after he allegedly attacked a co-worker with a machete after getting drunk.

Authorities say the construction co-workers were drinking at a home in the Eagle Rock neighborhood Tuesday night when one got drunk and was driven home.

Police tell KABC-TV ( ) that the man returned about 30 minutes later and claimed somebody had stolen his cellphone.

During an argument, he hit the other man several times in the head with a machete before the other man's family members managed to grab the machete and use it against the attacker.

The suspect was cut in the head and hands. The victim's son and brother had hand cuts.

Everyone is expected to recover.
