TUCSON, Arizona — Tucson police say a man is dead after being shot by a security guard for a bar on the city's south side.

According to police, the man was found dead early Friday morning in the parking lot of Gitano's Bar and Grill. His identity has not been released.

Sgt. Chris Widmer says initial information indicates that a security guard for the bar shot the man during an altercation and that the dead man had in his possession a weapon of some type at the time.

The dead man's name has not been released and police continue to investigate the killing.

Widmer says police are asking anyone with information on the matter to contact police. He says numerous people left the parking lot as initially responding officers arrived.
