Upstate NY woman convicted of murder for conspiring with 2 men to kill her daughter's father

WATKINS GLEN, New York — An upstate New York woman has been convicted of conspiring with two men to kill the father of her daughter last year.

Local media outlets report a Schuyler County jury found 41-year-old Alice Trappler guilty Wednesday of second-degree murder and other charges for the shotgun slaying of 30-year-old Daniel Bennett in his town of Dix home in April 2012.

Among the evidence against Trappler was the testimony of 26-year-old Nathan Hand, who admitted he'd gone with 32-year-old Thomas Borden of Corning to kill Bennett.

Borden committed suicide by jumping in front of a Philadelphia commuter train as police chased him after the killing.

Hand had pleaded guilty to first-degree manslaughter in a deal with prosecutors.

Trappler faces from 25 years to life in prison when she's sentenced July 11.
