Man gets 7 years in prison for leaving the scene of fatal crash

PANAMA CITY, Florida — A Florida Panhandle man has been sentenced to seven years in prison for a fatal hit-and-run crash.

The Panama City News Herald ( ) reports that 45-year-old David Wayne Turner was sentenced Thursday. He pleaded no contest last month to leaving the scene of a fatal crash.

Authorities say Turner hit a pedestrian, 44-year-old Lori York, with a Hummer H3 in April and then drove away.

Investigators found paint chips and pieces from the Hummer's grill on the scene. Police say Turner was arrested at his home several hours later and admitted that he had been intoxicated at the time of the crash.
