Man charged with 1st-degree murder in fiery hit-and-run crash in Denver

DENVER — Prosecutors have charged a man with first-degree murder after a fiery hit-and-run crash in Denver that killed one person and injured two others.

The Denver Post reports (http://goo.gl/vwxp8W ) 25-year-old Ricardo Gardea also faces charges of second-degree burglary, vehicular homicide, vehicular assault and leaving the scene of an accident, among other counts. He is accused of slamming into a Jeep on Monday, causing an explosion and fire that witnesses say engulfed its occupants.

Killed in the crash was 21-year-old Sebastian Evridge.

Gardea is being held without bail. Booking documents do not indicate if he has hired an attorney.
