Authorities: 51-year-old motorcyclist hit, killed after pickup fails to yield at intersection


DANSVILLE, New York — Authorities say a pickup truck hit and killed a motorcyclist in western New York.

State Police say the crash happened Sunday night on State Route 63 in Dansville, located about 40 miles south of Rochester.

Investigators say the driver of the pickup stopped at an intersection but did not yield to oncoming traffic. The pickup hit the motorcycle, sending the male rider about 50 yards. The motorcycle became wedged underneath the vehicle.

WHAM-TV reports ( ) the motorcyclist was identified as 51-year-old David Congdon, of Perkinsville.

No charges have been filed against the driver of the pickup. Police do not believe drugs or alcohol played a role in the crash.
