UW president says strengthening relationships with community colleges is important

ROCK SPRINGS, Wyoming — University of Wyoming President Dick McGinity says strengthening relationships with community colleges is an important part of making UW's engineering and energy program one of the nation's best.

McGinity says one area a closer working relationship will help is in transferring student credits from state community colleges to UW.

McGinity and other members of a governor's task force on UW engineering were in Rock Springs on Monday to tour local companies where UW engineering graduates work.

The state and UW are undertaking an initiative to make UW one of the top 50 engineering schools in the nation.

Task force co-chairman Tom Botts tells the Rock Springs Rocket-Miner ( ) that top students and faculty, research and money all are needed to accomplish the goal.
