Gwinnett Technical College launches engineering technology associate program

LAWRENCEVILLE, Georgia — A metro Atlanta technical school is launching an engineering technology program this summer.

Officials from Gwinnett Technical College said in a statement Wednesday that the new associate degree program is now accepting students for its fall 2014 class, which begins Aug. 20.

Program Director for Engineering Technology Bray Bronner says the metro Atlanta area has a concentration of electronics technology companies. Bronner says there's a growing need for skilled workers to support the industry.

Bronner says engineers usually design products and systems, but technologists are typically the employees responsible for building those designs.

Officials say success in the field requires a mix of a love for math, interest in science, good communication skills and the ability to work alone and with a team.
