Murder charges in central Pa. child's death dismissed against father, remain against mother

YORK, Pennsylvania — Prosecutors in central Pennsylvania have dismissed murder charges against a man who was arrested along with a woman in the death of their 2-month-old son.

The York Dispatch (http://bit.ly/YHGV2E ) says York County prosecutors withdrew first- and third-degree murder charges against 33-year-old Erick Clapper Sr. on Monday.

Senior deputy prosecutor Amy Eyster added a charge of involuntary manslaughter against Clapper, who was released on supervised bail according to court documents.

The child's mother, 31-year-old Heather Almoney, remains charged with first- and third-degree murder in the death of Eric Jr., who authorities allege died of lack of food and water.

Defense attorneys have argued that their clients have mental disabilities. Eyster said Almoney's competency examination has not been completed.
